Optical System Design
GEOST has a rich history of developing and delivering a wide range of optical systems for a variety of customers.
Our experience varies from the UV to long wave infrared wavelengths and covers applications from terrestrial lab settings to space payloads.
GEOST has built active systems including high power laser sources, complex imaging systems in demanding environments, as well as simple low cost systems with single element detectors operating at very high bandwidths.
Whether your application requires diffraction limited imaging, ultra-low light single photon detection, or something in between, GEOST has the optical system design experience to deliver.
Active Space Payloads
GEOST provides multiple services in the area of laser communications. Because of our extensive knowledge of autonomous observatories, we offer robust, low-cost, autonomous optical ground stations (OGS) to our customers. We support our customers at many different levels, from entire lasercomm terminals to unique components (e.g., gimbal free beam steering). Our founder, Dr. Anthony Gleckler, has delivered multiple last systems in use in the DOD throughout his career, and GEOST has done extensive laser radar assessment for a number of 3D imaging applications. (Missing figure) [The figure below] shows the full system modeling results of a laser-radar based system for acquiring, localizing, and providing fire control solutions for underwater mines.
Passive Space Payloads
In space, heritage goes a long way, and GEOST has successfully delivered multiple EO space payloads designed to tackle unique and difficult problems for our customers.
As the space sector continues to thrive, the cost of launches is going down. GEOST is well-suited to design, build, test, and operate EO space payloads at costs and schedule not achievable by the large companies that have traditionally dominated space.
Electro-Optical/Infrared Systems (EO/IR)
GEOST has developed, fielded and operated a host of IR solutions across a number of national security missions from Space Domain Awareness to Missile Warning.
GEOST collection systems are not limits to fixed site and orbital solutions. We have the ability to deploy out solutions wherever the mission requires.
TCPED Software Processing
The GEOST Software team builds systems that are modular, configurable and high-volume. GEOST designs systems with intrinsic security, auditing, and extensibility. We deploy and support software on local hardware or in the cloud. GEOST develops on a foundation of standard software packages and open-source software, reducing your overall cost of ownership.
We designed our re-usable TCPED architecture as a set of modular subsystems, linked by topic-based messaging. Each subsystem encapsulates functionality such as storage and data processing, as well as interfaces to outside systems. Subsystems act independently and only require communication over a pre-defined interface. We develop our ingestion and processing subsystems as configurable, distributed task queues. Task instances are independently scaled and dedicated to specific tasks and chained together.
The GEOST software team employs a tailored agile development process composed of both Scrum and Kanban development practices. The GEOST Scrum-based process is time-boxed and used for new software projects prior to deployment. The Kanban-based process is work in progress (WIP)-limited and used for maintenance and development on deployed systems.
Modeling and Simulations Services
Because of the unique nature of many of our EO systems, we developed significant modeling and simulation (M&S) capability to provide our customers insight into how innovative EO systems perform.
Starting with a physics based approach, we model the signal (spatially, spectrally, and temporally), the background, the optical system, the sensor, and all processing.
Our M&S capability is built upon a set of custom and COTS tools, and while we built up these skills to support our sensor hardware projects, many of our customers have come to us for M&S work.
Space Domain Awareness Products and Services
As the space sector continues to proliferate with a wide variety of satellites from domestic and foreign sources, Space Domain Awareness (SDA) is a growing interest area for many government agencies and commercial entities.

Since 2015, GEOST has deployed and operated remote autonomous observatories to varied locations around the world in support of multiple customers. These observatory systems include the enclosure with advanced weather monitoring capabilities to protect the hardware, imaging systems, including multiple telescopes and sensors, tracking systems, and software.
The software package provides a truly turn-key solution allowing the user to simply provide a schedule of objects to track, and the autonomous observatory takes care of all the details.
