Position Summary
GEOST is a rapidly growing Space technology business founded in 2004 with locations in Arizona and Northern Virginia. We are seeking a skilled Materials Engineer to work with our blended team of innovators that includes top scientists and engineers creating cutting-edge solutions to tomorrow’s problems. Our work focuses on the sweet spot between R&D and customer-serving solutions in the realm of terrestrial and space-based remote sensing systems.
The Materials Engineer at GEOST will be responsible for developing and supporting the Space materials management lifecycle. They will work with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to support the development of Space payloads and the Mission Assurance program.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide materials engineering input and solutions for design and manufacturing of products for Space applications.
- Provide leadership and individual contribution for materials management for Space projects.
- Manage for program level activities and mission assurance compliance.
- Offer recommendations for various issues arising during procurement and manufacturing.
- Verify subcontractor materials performance and compliance to environmental requirements.
- Prepare materials engineering inputs for proposals and other customer reviews (e.g., PDR, CDR, TRR).
- Develop material and process control plans and other types of contractual deliverables such as non-standard approval requests contamination/corrosion control plans, etc.
- Create and manage Materials Identification and Usage Lists (MIUL).
- Own the Parts, Materials, & Processes program as well as material and procurement specifications.
Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Science or other related field (strong focus in materials is a plus).
- Direct experience in a Space or Aerospace design and manufacturing environment.
- Direct experience with design and applications using space/military/aerospace industry specifications.
- Experience in areas such as surface treatments, outgassing, conformal coating, vacuum bake-outs.
- Strong demonstrated ability to manage parts & materials documentation and database(s).
- Demonstrated strong personal workload management and execution.
- Ability to work independently within a collaborative, supportive development environment.
- An active US Government Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a Clearance. Current SSBI is preferred; please note if applicable.
