Position Summary

GEOST seeks an enthusiastic and highly capable Senior Business Development Director to chart the path of the company’s growth within the Space Force Customer group. The key to this role is the ability to turn the strategic picture into tactical plans and revenue opportunities.  This position will build relationships, listen to the customer and industry partners, interface with the GEOST technical products group, and communicate how GEOST capabilities support mission, schedule, and affordability needs. This is a highly visible position with the opportunity to build a long-term career within the GEOST leadership cadre while growing the business and creating value. 

GEOST is a rapidly growing business headquartered in Tucson, AZ, with East Coast operations out of Herndon, VA.  This position would be responsible for opening and leading the GEOST Los Angeles office.

GEOST specializes in optical payloads and ground systems for missile warning, space domain awareness and protection, and ISR. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understand GEOST products and how they are and/or may be employed.
  • Work with GEOST leadership to build strategic growth goals and turn them into implementable tactical-level plans.
  • Proactively engage customers to understand capability needs and requirements.
  • Drive the organization to achieve sales goals specific to US Space Force and related customer community.
  • Generate technical/cost proposals to support customer RFPs. 
  • Create an effective plan to promote engineering solutions and work with customers to integrate this technology into existing designs.
  • Work with engineering, business operations, and program management teams to develop and gain buy-in for technical solutions, cost and schedule estimates, and pricing recommendations for new business opportunities.
  • Grow a relationship network with government and industry partners to inform new business pursuits, gain key customer insights, and build trust.
  • Develop and maintain superb relationships with the USSF Space Systems Command, specifically US Space Force leadership and their staffs.
  • Develop and maintain close relationships with the industrial base that serve the USSF Space Systems Command customer.
  • Interface with the customer and internal GEOST resources to keep both apprised of key issues and concerns.
  • Support GEOST leadership with timely, accurate knowledge of customer priorities, program execution issues, capability gaps, and opportunities.
  • Provide insight based on US Space Force requirements and industry competitor dynamics to recognize and develop opportunities within existing and emerging GEOST business unit programs.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies for capturing new DoD and proprietary business.
  • Establish and maintain a team-based culture within GEOST and facilitate close coordination to ensure unified, cohesive messaging to the customer.
  • Grow the GEOST geographic presence near the SSC customer.
  • Actively participate in local civic, business, defense industry, and professional associations.

Required Qualifications/Skills/Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • 10 or more years of experience working with or within Military or DoD customers.
  • Five or more years of quality experience in a National Security Space related program (IC or DoD).
  • Intimate familiarity with the Department of Defense (DoD) requirements process and acquisition system with specific emphasis on the key functions led by US Space Force:
    • Operation and protection of military satellites and ground stations that provide communication, navigation, and Earth observation (i.e., the detection and tracking of missile launches).
    • Use of associated space assets to support and enhance multi-domain force application.
  • Experience interfacing directly with senior military officials and executives.
  • Background in National Security Space capability areas, organizations, operations, processes, logistics, acquisitions, and weapons systems.
  • Knowledge of the Space Systems Command Staff, Major Commands supporting US Space Force, and Department of Defense Combatant Commands.
  • Ability to manage complex projects, multi-task, flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty.
  • Excellent communication (presentation, written, and verbal) skills with a comfort in public speaking and frequent interactions with executive-level management.
  • Strong leadership and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to work in the El Segundo, CA area (80% on site or near the customer location). 
  • Occasional travel (10% of the time).
  • An active USG Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a Clearance. Current SSBI is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Knowledge

  • Graduate from one or more of the National/Service War Colleges.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI
